  Here is a bit of a reality check on the web 2.0 frenzy. I've always thought the hype around web 2.0 reminded me a bit of the hype around the early dot.com days -- which I, by the way, was very much a part of. It's the reason why I am so revenue-driven when it comes to creating web projects these days. At the back of my mind, it has been worrying me, though: There is an almost unchecked, uncritical enthusiasm for web 2.0 and citizen media.   This popped into my inbox this afternoon. I know Jovan Regasek well and have big respect for the man, ITWeb and the other publications his company puts out. For those of you wondering, ITWeb survived full on through the dot.bomb crash and was one of the few online publications that actually gave rise to various print titles (instead of the other way round). These were all set up from scratch and, today, rake in advertising revenue. Jovan is a true online media pioneer in every sense of the word. Now, to the below piece, which I don't agree with.
