Once again strolled on to the Quirk blog and I see that a piece by Werner De Bruin from Quirk marketing puts the Mail & Guardian Online as Google’s highest ranked local site. Well, at least at the time of this blog post. Look. Quick. Before it changes
Not sure how scientific this is, or if we’re going to place too much currency in these listings. (ie: where is Google.co.za in that list? Easily the country’s biggest site, surely?) We’ve been monitoring the site’s high Google pagerank for a while now. Incidentally, the site also has a high ranking in Technorati as bloggers have always like talking about it and linking to it. The Google ranking also probably has something to do with the age of the site domain. And in case anyone is wondering, we’ve not done a stitch of that dark art: SEO. Not a stitch. Go figure.
