The bloggers indaba in Grahamstown hit the sweetspot for me. And judging by the strength of the panellists and the quality of questions asked by the delegates this was a strong conference.
Nice to meet such awesome people and to be in such esteemed company. I liked the mix that was there, from online media, traditional (print) media, activists, NGOs and academics and of course — the bloggers themselves. I thought however the conference was a little weak on the showmethemoney/business/commercial aspect of blogging.
I also appreciated the fact that the delegates came from afar as the US, Europe and from all over Africa and of course, South Africa, where the event was being held. It looks like we are slowly but surely building a blogging culture in South Africa. I was particularly blown away at how popular and well written the Peas Blog was. I know who you really are now Peas 😉
Interesting to see however that one of the bigger topics of conversation (ie the big bubble on the right) however as per the DCI blog is the Rat & Parrot — which ofcourse is the local drinking hole we all know so well. Newzbubble doesn’t lie… 😉
This was the first ever (major) blog conference and a mighty impressive organisational feat for number one. I hope this is a regular event as this could grow to be one of the country’s major online conferences….
